The classical treatment is surgical removal of indicated fibroadenomas. However, operations performed due to fibroadenomas can be cosmetically annoying for many young women. While surgical scars on the breast skin may be a problem, the risks of surgery and anesthesia due to recurrent fibroadenomas are another stress factor for patients.
With developing technology, many methods have been developed that allow fibroadenomas to be treated without surgery. The most commonly used of these is the removal of fibroadenomas with vacuum needles. It is also possible to ablate fibroadenomas (kill them where they are) by freezing them in cryoablation systems and heating them in echotherapy systems.
